Distinctive architectural features and an EKG supergraphic created an instant community landmark.
Mission City Clinic
Mission City Community Network
North Hills (San Fernando Valley), CA
The nonprofit Mission City Community Network (MCCN) provides medical, dental, and mental health services to low-income and medically underserved residents of Southern California. Correspondingly, their mission is to promote patient wellbeing including an awareness of sustainability through design and construction materials.
Zakian Woo Architects honored MCCN and the North Hills community with a design that elevated the existing three-story building. Exterior and interior elements play with geometry, color, and use of materials. An exterior-wrapping staircase provided a visual and physical connection from the inside to the outside at all levels. The program included a lobby and waiting areas, multiple exam rooms, nurse stations, labs, provider offices, a pharmacy and administrative areas. ZWA provided full scope design and construction administration services.
