With its form, use of glazing, stone, and details, the building both conveys its own identity and complements the Medical Center campus.

Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Expansion
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
Los Angeles, CA
Study and design competition for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) with Pei Partnership Architects for the addition of a 9,000 square-foot Cardiac Imaging Research Building (CIR) dedicated to the development of MRI software and techniques, also referred to as Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM).
Primarily offices and labs, the addition was challengingly located above the Nuclear Medicine Department within CSMC’s Taper Imaging Center, requiring a particularly strong focus on vibration control. The competition also involved the consideration of approach, adjacent circulation, and landscape in addition to the building itself. The Zakian Woo Architects/Pei Partnership team was selected to present their design to the CSMC’s Building Committee.
